Both the survivors and the Flood had forced colors (green and grey, respectively) which could not be changed, as the Forced Color option was totally removed from the Custom Games user interface. Flood Loadouts were no longer visible in-game as they still relied on the Elite Loadouts options, which were totally removed from the Custom Games user interface. Flood Player Traits specifically omitted the options for starting weapons and weapon pickup, even though there were no technical limitations preventing the Flood character model from using weapons. Notably, several Custom Game options were missing from Flood. It takes two hits from a Flood to kill a survivor. Survivors start with Assault Rifles and Magnums, and are able to pick up other weapons around the map, including Shotguns. In Hivemind, Spartans appeared in their chosen colors, instead of the default green. Survivors would spawn with shotguns and magnums, and both teams had three loadouts to pick from, each of which offered a different armor ability.Ī new public variant called Hivemind was added on July 1, 2013. Unlike Infection in Halo: Reach, infected Spartans in Halo 4 are equipped with energy shields, making it harder to kill them with headshots. Flood players were also incapable of sprinting.įlood's default settings dictated that two players would start on the Flood team, and rounds would last for three minutes. Altered settings also gave Flood players a special armor effect that trailed behind them and a first-person screen effect that distorted their vision.įlood players did not spawn with weapons and couldn't pick any weapons up they attacked using a fleshy claw that behaved similarly to the Energy Swords used in Infection. The principal difference between Flood and Infection is the addition of a new player model for the Flood: an infected Spartan's body was stripped of its hard armor plating and covered in a Flood carapace. In reality the Spartan Forms could be completely different, but the opposite could be true.Flood's core gameplay is identical to Infection's core gameplay: players are split into a Survivor team and a Flood team, and survivors must avoid being killed and converted to the Flood team. Halo 4's version I believe was molded by the UNSC from field reports, and projected graphs. You can imagine the rest.įlood Wildlife from the surrounding area. Nothing particularly special about them.īut Drones could be the first Forms that are capable of flight. The Jackal and Grunts I guess would be there just for diversity of Flood species. I remember reading that they didn't have sufficient biomass or whatever to be turned, but that seems off. Or maybe just a humongous Pure Form like form.įlood Grunts, Drones, and Jackals. Since their all independent Worms, it would make sense if the Hunter turned into a swarm of burrowing Flood Worms. I'm not entirely informed on them so I don't know if they can be converted. Not sure how that would work with Lekgolo worms. General: The flood is far more numerous and a normal skirmish with them in a room would have ~75 parasites and 5-10 combat forms.įlood Hunters. Tanks: They are FAR more durable and take 2 hits from the hammer to kill. They do not get effective by standard melee attacks (Most weapons do nothing, maulers do minimal damage, spikers do a little more, 2 hits with the brute shot, instakill with the hammer and sword) They are very rare and do not always work well.Ĭarriers: They carry 25 infection forms alwaysĬombat Forms: They will do more strategic attacks (It will be noticed by the characters) They will also be more aggressive when in combat though. Techno-Flood: Extremely high ranking flood that can corrupt a suitable A.I and use it with the flood. They are pretty slow and only appear in a ranged fight though. They will instakill you with a direct hit, and can take on a pair of hunters. They will have a scream based off the original godzilla roar. Flood Juggernauts: These will take three direct splaser hits to kill.
